Calvary Day School’s Pre-K program offers a rich, engaging curriculum that captivates students through fostering independent thinking and an appreciation for God’s beautiful world.
Our program is Accredited with Quality by the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC). Each teacher is certified in early childhood education and is an expert in developing a spirit of active discovery in students.
The excitement of learning is evident in Calvary’s classrooms as student creativity flourishes through abundant hands-on activities like cooking, gardening, and painting. Additionally, each student is equipped with an Apple iPad for classroom purposes. Such “learning by doing” experiences emphasize concentration and teamwork, which enable Pre-K students to become self-confident learners.
Pre-K develops emergent readers and problem-solvers through activities based on phonics, one-to-one correspondence, number and letter recognition, as well as counting, addition, and subtraction. Likewise, each child’s natural curiosity is welcomed and encouraged through field trips to fascinating locations including the Tybee Marine Science Center, the Jepson Center, the historic Massie School, the Savannah Music Festival, Disney on Ice, as well as the local pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm.
Students further develop a love of learning through participation in delightful annual events such as Children’s Book Week, Dr. Seuss Day, the Christmas and Georgia Day programs, and the Spring Fling.
The daily schedule for Pre-K is a lively one that matches the energy of the students. In addition to lessons, structured play, and personal activity time, students also participate in daily enrichment activities that span a variety of subjects such as art, music, physical education, Bible, Chinese, and library.
Calvary’s Pre-K program is committed to providing a sound educational and Christian experience that not only stimulates learning and development, but also promotes spiritual and social growth through a supportive staff and nurturing environment.
